Frequently Asked Questions

Buying Firearms Online:

Q: I have selected RKR Protection Investments to do an FFL transfer for me.  Can RKR Protection Investments sell me a gun as well?

Yes, at RKR Protection Investments we are a fully licensed firearms business.  We can receive the firearm that you purchased elsewhere on-line and legally transfer it to you, but often times RKR Protection Investments can sell you the same firearm and have it in your hands sooner than an on-line purchase through another dealer.

When you contact us about your transfer needs, give us a chance to give you a quote on the firearm that you are buying.

Q: Can you explain how purchasing a firearm on-line works?

Purchasing a firearm on-line can be concerning due to the fact that you do not know the person that you are purchasing from, which may cause a little anxiety in regards to not knowing what you need to know or do. When you find a firearm on-line and want to purchase it, follow the purchasing guidelines set forth from the seller you are purchasing from.  You will pay for the firearm with the seller by their accepted methods (PayPal, credit card, check, etc…). Your cost may include tax, shipping and handling, or other fees, in addition to the stated price for the firearm.

Unless you are buying from an individual, your purchase must be shipped to a Federal Firearms License (FFL) dealer. The seller will require that you supply the contact information of a local FFL dealer to complete the purchase. This is where RKR Protection Investments steps in. Simply complete and submit the transfer form located on the Services/Transfers tab of our website and we will make all the necessary notifications and arrangements to get your firearm to you, eliminating the need for you to do anything else.

Once your firearm arrives at our store, we will arrange for the finalization of the transfer (Form 4473, background check, etc…). We charge a $20 fee to complete the transfer.

Q: What is a Form 4473

The BATFE form 4473 is titled “Firearms Transaction Record Part I – Over-The-Counter”.  This document is required to be completed when purchasing a firearm from a firearms dealer, or when a firearms transfer is being completed through an FFL.  The following information must be provided and completed on the form: full name, address, birth place, height, weight, gender, and birth date.  The form will ask questions in regards to your ethnicity, state of residence and your country of citizenship; as well as approximately a dozen other questions such as; are you a felon, under indictment, a fugitive, are you here illegally, etc.

You will need to show a government issued ID to verify your address. If you have moved and have not had your current address updated on your ID, you will need to contact us to discuss other forms of proof of identification and residency.

Once this form has been completed, signed and dated, the FFL will conduct the background check with the FBI.

Q: How does the background check work?

RKR Protection Investments utilizes a system called the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NCIS) to process all background checks. The information that you provided on the Form 4473 is entered into the NCIS system and within a few minutes the system will return with one of the following response; proceed, delayed, or denied.  When the system responds it does not supply any additional information aside from a transaction ID number that the FFL must maintain.

“Proceed” means that your background check came back acceptable and we can transfer the firearm to you.
“Denied” means that your background check came back unacceptable and we cannot transfer the firearm to you.  Instead, we can provide you with the information that you’ll need to contact the FBI to appeal the denial, should you desire to do so.
“Delayed” means that your background check was not able to be completed and that more time to investigate is required.  By law the FFL cannot transfer the firearm to you for a minimum of three (3) business days. If during the three (3) business day waiting period the FFL receives a “proceed” reply, then we will contact you and proceed with completing the transfer. If during the three (3) business day waiting period RKR Protection Investments does not receive a “proceed” or a “denied” response, then we can complete the transfer on the forth (4) business day.
